Home Tour

A quick note - I'm sure you noticed I changed my blog name from Walter & Toby's Mom to Messy & Joyful Blog. I feel like this new name encompasses what my blog is about more than the old name. It's all the messy and joyful parts of life. Thanks!

I bought my house almost two years ago. While I completely adore my home, I very much hate my neighborhood (which is a story for another day). I am actively trying to save up money to move, but that’s obviously going to take a few years. So, I’m going to try to enjoy my home while I am still here. I thought I’d give y’all a little home tour today. I have a 3 bedroom, 1 bath house. It’s small, but it’s perfect for me and the boys.

My living room is right inside the front door and the side door (that leads to the carport). It’s pretty open and leads into the dining room as well. I am clearly obsessed with my dogs, if you couldn’t tell by the decor. Can you tell yet that my dogs are my life? And, that they are spoiled?

Off to the right of the dining room is the kitchen. The washer and dryer are in the kitchen because my house doesn’t have a basement. I actually like not having a basement because it’s one less thing for me to have to worry about cleaning and maintaining.

The door at the back of the dining room leads out to my backyard. This is probably the dog’s favorite place, next to my bed and/or the couch. I have been working on getting my backyard into a place that I enjoy spending time. It’s actually one of my favorite places to sit on chilly, Fall mornings.

I have a small guest room. It’s basically enough for a bed and a side table. I like that I have a place that people can stay if they need to. My sister, sister-in-law, and best friend have all put the room to good use  after a girls night.

One of my favorite rooms in the house is my library/office. This used to be just my office, but I redecorated earlier this year and made it into a comfy space that I can read. I can’t wait until it’s colder outside and I can snuggle up with a blanket in my chair with a good book.

My bedroom is probably where my dogs love the most! Kidding! Sort of. They are spoiled and sleep in my bed, so they do quite enjoy the bedroom - even though they clearly have their own bed in my office/library.

Last, but not least, is my tiny bathroom. Which, again, works for me since it’s just me and the dogs.

Hope you enjoyed this little tour of my home! By the way, I’ve had to make some fairly new social media accounts, so if we’re not already, let’s get connected: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter.
